Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on identifying the administrative, social, and economic conditions of Sudan during the period of dual rule that Sudan witnessed between 1898-1956.This period of Sudanese history is considered to be one of the most important periods in modern and contemporary history, as the events and personalities that filled this period later had a great influence on Sudan and its people. It was also during this period that all the economic, social, and even political developments that Sudan is witnessing today were experienced. The importance of this study is that it focuses on aspects that were neglected or understudied in terms of research at that time. This study aims to learn the policies carried out by the British for the development of the economy and the development of Sudanese society, as well as shed light on the period of dual rule and review the developments and changes in the administrative, economic and social aspects that occurred in Sudan during the dual rule period. It also aims to know the role of the social services such as education, health and transportation provided by the Colonizer in spreading awareness and their role in the emergence of the educated classes that fought against colonialism and played a major role in the political arena in the country, which later led to Sudan's independence. This study consists of three main parts and a conclusion. In this study, information was collected from historical, descriptive, analytical approaches, documents and reports and the diaries of some people who played an important role in that period were used. One of the most important findings of this study is that the colonial state left an economic, social, and urban renaissance in Sudan, which although the goals of the colonizer were limited, had positive consequences on the overall development of society and led to economic and social transformations that constituted the manifestations of modern society.
