Abstract (EN)
As one of the 21st century's biggest ecological and security challenges, climate change is leading to significant transformations in the Arctic, which has profound effects on international relations and geopolitical dynamics. In particular, the strategic struggle between global powers such as the USA, Russia, China and the EU in the Arctic region in the post-Cold War period is reshaping the balance of power and diplomatic initiatives in inter-state relations. Melting glaciers, rising sea levels and changing ecosystems are threatening biodiversity in the Arctic and deeply affecting the traditional lifestyles of indigenous peoples. Melting glaciers are opening up new sea routes and making natural resources in the region more accessible, creating new economic opportunities between states, but also increasing competition for national security and strategic interests. The findings of this study, which aims to provide guidance for a sustainable and peaceful future for the Arctic region, reveal that the Arctic is not only an area of environmental change, but also a strategic region of geopolitical importance. Therefore, it is important to develop effective policies and cooperation strategies for the sustainability of the Arctic region and the preservation of international peace. In this context, it is important to strengthen international cooperation, implement sustainable development policies and improve the living conditions of indigenous communities.
