Abstract (EN)

One of the most important problems we have experienced in the globalizing world is the extreme increases in temperatures brought about by climate change, disruption of the greenhouse gas balance in the atmosphere, long-term drought and forest fires that adversely affect natural vegetation systems such as agricultural areas and forest areas. At the beginning of these negativities, it is seen that increases in temperatures due to increases in natural greenhouse gas levels cause problems such as drought and deforestation. Taking Pütürge district as a reference, which has not been studied on climate change before, the most suitable areas were determined in order to minimize the negative effects on forestry, livestock, agriculture and tourism activities in the region in terms of forestry, erosion risk. Geodesign approach, one of the most innovative methods in the literature, was used in the preparation of alternative scenarios and plans for temperature and precipitation changes. In this study, forest suitability analysis, erosion risk analysis, erodibility analysis and land suitability analysis were carried out in order to reveal the consequences of climate change impacts. The most suitable areas and unsuitable areas for forest ecosystems were evaluated using Geographic Information Systems and Analytical Hierarchy Process, which are among the most widely used techniques. Geodesign 6 questions model and process were applied in three iterations in Pütürge District of Malatya as the study area. In the study, considering the effects of climate change, deforestation within the borders of Pütürge District, increases in temperatures, decreases in precipitation, and especially an increase in the number of dry months were observed. Studies, reports and scenarios on climate change show the urgency and seriousness of the situation. Human activities are an important cause of climate change. If no measures are taken, serious damage will occur in the environment.
