A comparative study about the effect of foreign trade concentration on financial performance in a leading company in the pharmaceutical sector

In this research, it has been aimed that investigate the effect of net foreign trade concentration on the main operating profit concentration of a pharmaceutical company. In this context, it was tried to be examined that the effects of net foreign trade transactions on the main operating profit concentration as a comparative in terms of five years data (January 2014-December 2018) of a company which is leading on pharmaceutical industry with the helping of Hirschman-Herfindahl Index which has an important place in the literature. In this perspective, a detail literature review was made about the concept of performance, financial performance in business, foreign trade transactions and theories, and concentration index concepts and with this information general framework was created. In the first part of study, the concept of performance and performance measurement in business, the ratios and methods used in financial performance analysis are discussed. In the second part, basic conceptual information such as foreign trade concept, foreign trade theories, concentration indices and measurement, trade concentration and foreign trade relationship has taken place. In the third and final section of the study, with regression method the research model and data were analyzed and the information which has been found was commented. With the evaluation of the study, it was concluded that net foreign trade concentration index values do not have any effect on the main operating profit concentration index values in the examined period. This thesis will be helpful in assessing how concentration the statistical performance of foreign trade in the pharmaceutical sector. In addition, it will be beneficial for the usability of concentration indices in profitability in terms of financial performance as well as calculation of the dependent concentration of the private sector.
