A research on adaptation and yield of improved saanen crossbred goats under Mersin conditions

This study is conducted at a farm located in of Dikilitas district Mersin province. The animal material were consist of improved Saanen crosses (Saanen x Hair goat) at 9 months of age brought from Canakkale region, mated with Cukurova Saanen bucks delivered from the Cukurova University Agriculture Faculty. Adaptation parameters of does and their performances of does are determined.Physiologic adaptation parameters such as, rectal temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate are determined in November, February, May and August whereas total serum cholesterol, calcium and glucose levels in the blood were determined only in February. Besides, birth weight of kids and pre-partum weight, postpartum weight and lactation milk yield of improved Saanen crosses (Saanen x Hair goat) are determined.
