Abstract (EN)
This project aims to determine alternative and more effective statistical methods to be used for the selection of new advanced barley lines. For this aim, 15 trials were conducted including 4 checks and 20 advanced lines under randomized complete block design with four replications during 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons. In addition to yield, 14 parameters including some yield, physical and advanced quality traits were studied. In this research, Larende, Burakbey, and Tosunpasa were found superior for eight parameters among the cultivars. H3 and H6 were highlighted among the advanced lines with their yield characteristics, while H13 and H14 showed good quality, among advanced lines. The advanced line H10 was determined for its both good quality and higher yield performance. When the stability of genotypes was evaluated with parametric and non-parametric methods, Tarm 92, Tosunpasa, and Burakbey cultivars and nine advanced lines (H2, H3, H7, H10, H11, H12, H13, H14 ve H15) were found stable for the different stability parameters. Five of these advanced lines (H2, H3, H7, H10, H13) were superior interms of garin yield an at the same time they were stable. Moreover, GGE and AMMI biplots were also created to visually demonsrate stability of the genotypes. Comparison of the 6 different selection parametrs consisting of bulk of the 14 traits studied in this research showed that some methods could not change rank of some genotypes while some genotypes were significantly affected by using different index method. Burakbey and Tosunpasa cultivars were generally higher in rank but cv. Larende was around the top interms of some index methods. On the other hand, common variety Tarm 92 was in the average in the rank. In additon to cultivors, the advanced lines H3, H1, and H10 were the top in the rank in terms of most of the index methods. Finally, in this research, some genetic parameters, such as heritability, genetic advance and genetic and phenotypic coefficient of variation were estimated to able to create selection indexes for yield, quality, and their's components. In this regard, broad-sense heritabilities were between 0.33 (grain yield) and 0.02 (hectolitre weight). In general, while the heritability percentages were low except for seed yield. The genetic improvements were between % 14.34 (grain yield) and % 0.12 (number of spike per square meter).
