Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT A DOCTORATE THESIS İLHAN TARUS (HUMAN AND MASTERPIECE) FATİH ARSLAN FIRAT UNIVERSITY THE INSTİTUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES THE DEPARTMENT OF NEW TURKISH LITERATURE 2005, PAGE VIII- 378 ilhan Tarus (1907-1967) has known as a storywriter, novelist and playwright among Turkish Literature of Republican Period. He graduated from Istanbul University in 1928. He worked as a prosecuterand judge at various places. After he left his job 1932, he started to work as a journalist in Istanbul and Ankara. His last job was at the library of Ankara Courthouse. He entered to literature by his plays but he better known as a storywriter and novelist. His first novel is The Letter of Dr. Monro (1938). After this he published his story books titled Stories of Tarus (1947), Appartment (1950), Anthill (1952), The Dog of Crop (1953), Slave Inn (1954). His long story The Forest (1954) serialized by the daily Halkçı and his other story Two Bladed Knife (1955) serialized by the daily Son Havadis. Apart from these auther has many other stories such as Varlık, Yücel, Türk Dili, Yeditepe, Yedigün, Seçilmiş Hikâyeler published by periodicals and take place in thesis. His first novel Samanpazan (1954) serialized by the daily Dünya and it has a theme about corruption of morality in Ankara in 1950s. His other novels are The prosecutor of Yesilkava (1954), Existance (1956), Calm Lake (1958), Government Square (1962), Patriotism (1967). Also he has other two novels titled We are in year 1980 (1969) and The Spirit of Town (1957), former serialized by the daily Zafer and the latter by Yeni Sabah. Among these, in Existence, Government Square, Patriotism, the auther concentrates on The Turkish War of Independence In the Prosecutor of Yeşilkaya he tells about morality and social subjects. The auther entered the literature as a playwrigt but he has only a few work in this genre which are Criminal Judge (1940) about judical subjects, A Ship (1942) about a man's psychology who lives in his own world, Cauldron (1945) about the poor in Ankara and the historical play Suavi Efendi (1962). He discussed his all subjects in a realistic point of view and also used his own observations widely. The literary modes have secondery importance for him. KeyWords: İlhan Tarus, Story.
