Quran reading and tecvid courses in ILITAM programs

The distance education model, which has been applied in different ways in the historical process than today, is widely used with the developing technology. It has become frequently preferred especially because of the opportunities it provides. Distance education, which is preferred by many people both in the world and in our country, has also found a place in the field of Theology. In many countries, distance education is carried out at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and diplomas or certificates are given to those who qualify as a result. The "Theology Undergraduate Completion Program", known as the ILITAM program in our country, also offers education in the field in this sense. The number of the program, the first example of which was opened in our country in 2005 within the scope of Ankara University Faculty of Theology, reached 19 in the 2022-2023 academic year. The ILITAM program, which has different applications compared to formal theology education, includes an educational process that has some difficulties in itself. As a matter of fact, while theoretical lessons can be easily taught in virtual classrooms created with internet/web support, there are some problems in practical lessons. As it is known, in lessons with a practical dimension, the student must practice under the supervision of an expert teacher. However, due to some problems experienced in distance lessons, a healthy communication cannot be established between the teacher-student duo and therefore the desired level of success cannot be reached. There are many factors that cause this situation. The first of the lessons with a practical side is the Quran lesson. When looked at, it is controversial that the Qur'an education, which has been practiced with its own methods until today, can be given in the ILITAM program in accordance with the procedure. In particular, the sema and supply methods seem to be very difficult to implement within the framework of this program. The educational process of the course is adversely affected due to technological disruptions such as electricity and internet interruptions and some problems arising from the student. In summary, these methods should be applied in a healthy way so that the student can acquire a reading method from the teacher, who is a fem-i muhsin. In our study, information was given about the history of distance education-teaching specifically for the ILITAM program. Then, information is given about the curriculum of the Qur'an lessons in the 19 ILITAM programs, the teaching of the lesson and the exam applications. From this point of view, the application differences between ILITAM programs have been expressed within the framework of the aforementioned curriculum, course teaching and exam practices. Finally, the problems experienced in the name of the course were expressed and suggestions were made in order to eliminate these problems.
