Measuring the effects of the methods applied in health education of first and emergency program students on their triage practice skills in the field: The case of Giresun University

In order to ensure the professional development of health personnel who are responsible for treatment, care and emergency response, health education should be at a sufficient level in terms of theory and skills. In the teaching activities carried out in health programs in our country, the courses are carried out with different education methods and tools. In this study, it was tried to measure the effects of the educational methods and tools used in the courses conducted in the health-related programs of higher education institutions on the knowledge and practice skills of the students. In the study, 90 students studying in the First and Emergency Aid Program were divided into 3 groups and triage was explained to each group with a different education method. The training methods used; The basic training method is simulation training and the training method with expert support. "Triage Knowledge Level" and "Triage Skill Level Determination" scales developed by Aghababaeian et al. (2012) in English and translated into Turkish by Aslan (2018) were used as data collection tools. The analysis of the data was carried out with the SPSS 22 package program. Arithmetic mean, percentage, standard deviation and frequency distribution values are given. Means were compared using the "Wilcoxon T Test" and the "Kruskal-Wallis H Test". As a result, a significant difference was observed in the training group in which simulation-supported case applications were made. However, no significant difference was observed in the groups to which other training methods were applied.
