Özet (EN)
This study aims determine and compare state and trait anxiety levels according to different variables of male and female individuals who have tried to try dive for the first time. The sampling of the study consists of try divers who went to a dive center in Antalya, Kas in 2015. The number of these people, who were included in this study through a simple random sampling technique was 300, 150 of whom were males and 150 of whom were females. In order to measure the anxiety levels of these people before and after dive, Trait Anxiety Scale(TAS) and State Anxiety Scale(SAS) developed by Spielberg et al, were employed. Adaptation into Turkish, validity and reliability studies were all conducted by Oner and Le Compte(1983). The study was also assessed using non-parametric statistical methodology. So; Man Whitney U Test was used so as to assess the difference between the mean values of the independent groups(2 groups). Kruskal Wallis statistical analysis method was used in non-parametric comparisions among groups more than two. In the findings the state and trait anxiety levels of women were higher than those of men. Also individuals between 17-24 age were found to have the highest state and trait anxiety levels and the older they are, the lower their anxiety levels are. Regarding their marital status, the married ones had lower anxiety levels than the singles. It can also be proposed that the higher the income is the lower the anxiety levels are.
