The approach of the four great caliphs to sunnah

It is known that Sunnah, It is the second main source of our religion after the Qur'an. The Qur'an and Sunnah have determined the understanding of Islam that Muslims have adopted in the past and today. However, from the Companions to the present day, the Qur'an and the Sunnah, Although accepted as the main reference, In the historical process, different views and different understandings have emerged. Our Prophet, the last link of the chain of prophets, sent as a guide to humanity with the expression of our great book, the Qur'an. There is a good example for those who believe in Muhammad (s.a.s.) both in his words and in his actions. For this reason, it will be possible for people who believe in her to be an ideal believer, no matter what century they live in, by following her Sunnah. At this point, it is understood how important the duties of the distinguished personalities, namely the Companions, who will transfer the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah to the next generations, are of great importance. Of course, it would be the most correct way to apply to the first generation of Muslims, namely the Companions, in addition to the Qur'an and the Sunnah, in order to ensure the different understandings that people have acquired as a result of their ability to understand and their methods of understanding. In the introduction part of our study, after briefly mentioning the approaches of the Companions to the Sunnah, the subject, purpose, method and sources of the research were mentioned. By giving place to the conceptual framework, it was tried to provide sufficient information about the concepts of caliph, caliphate, sunnah, hadith and ittibâ. A total of four departments were created by opening separate departments for each caliph. In each chapter, after the main lines of the caliph's life were given in a concise manner, their understanding of sunnah/hadith, the importance they gave to the sunnah and their loyalty to the sunnah, their acceptance of hadiths and their meticulousness in their transmission, and their attitudes in the compilation of hadiths were tried to be explained.
