The standards of web sites of primary and secondary schools

This study examines what should web pages of primary and secondary instruction institutions include as standards and aims at what are the appropriateness of web pages of primary and secondary instruction institutions of Turkey and out of Turkey to the standards.The research method was survey design. The sample of research was consisted of 400 web sites of instruction institutions of Turkey and out of Turkey institutions. The examined web pages in the study were of 100 primary schools of Turkey, 100 primary schools out of Turkey, 100 secondary schools of Turkey, 100 secondary schools out of Turkey. Those web sites were investigated in point of two dimensions as ?content? and ?design?.The views of 855 individuals (students, teachers, parents) were included to define the standards of web sites. The data collecting tool was 5 likert type scale. The participants took part in the study were consisted of 143 primary school teachers, 120 secondary school teachers totally 263 actively continuing teaching in schools and 150 primary school students, 142 secondary school students totally 292 students and 300 parents having students in primary and secondary schools, totally 855 individuals.Consequently, in point of design of web sites, some important points that should be take into consideration are appropriate for necessities of last users' aims and objectives, correct and up to date information, easy to access, plain design, proper visual objects, support and help possibility, user friendly usability and easy to remember web address. In content point of view, web sites should have introduction of institution, academic calendar and curriculum, separate web pages for each classroom and lesson and dynamic content that is systematically updated.Key Words: Web site, Evaluation, Standard, Primary Education, Secondary Education.
