Investigation of positive psychological capital and shared leadership in primary and secondary schools in terms of some variables and relationship between them

The aim of this research is to determine the shared leadership in schools and the positive psychological capital level of teachers, to determine the relationship between these two variables and to examine the effect of each other and to determine the manager behaviors that increase the teachers' positive psychological capital. As one of mixed method patterns, descriptive sequential patterns were used in the research. The sample of the study consists of 550 teachers working in primary and secondary schools in the central districts of Malatya, Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt in the 2017-2018 academic year. Quantitative data were collected through the Shared Leadership Scale and Positive Psychological Capital Scale. Qualitative data were collected from 5 schools and 50 teachers working in schools in the quantitative research sample. In the analysis of quantitative data, descriptive statistics were calculated, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used. In the analysis of qualitative data, content analysis method was used. According to the findings of the study, there is a positive and moderate relationship between shared leadership in primary and secondary schools and positive psychological capital of teachers. Shared leadership in primary and secondary schools significantly predicts teachers' positive psychological capital and all sub-dimensions. As a result of the study, shared leadership and positive psychological capital of teachers were found to be high in primary and secondary schools. For teachers who are one of the most important elements of education to develop a positive psychology; it is important to cooperate to create a school-based sharing environment, to support its efforts, to involve in decision-making processes, to enable a problem to be actively involved in the solution process and all change and development efforts in the school and to achieve the goals of the school.
