The Teachers` and the students` views about the teachers` behaviours which may cause disapproved student behaviours in classroom environment at the fifth grade of first stage at primary school

Prof. Dr. Yusuf CERITSeptember; 2005;xiii+112 PageThe aim of this study is to decide the teachers? and the students? viewsabout the teachers? behaviours which may cause disapproved student behaviours inclassroom environment at the fifth grade of first stage at primary school.The universe of the study consists of the whole classroom teachers and thestudents of fifth grade in Bolu city centre. In bolu centre there are 286 classroomteachers and 1867 fifth grade students? at 19 primary school bounded to Bolucentre.An anket was prepared in order to gather the data by the researcher withthe control of experts.For the reliability and valditiy of the study expert vievs are applied. Inorder to measure the reliability of the anket `Cronch Alpha? is used and themultiple number of the reliability of the anket is found α =.90.Anket consists of two dimensions.These are:the teachers? behaviourswhich may cause disapproved student behaviours that originate from social skillsinadequacy and skill inadequacy related to teaching.In the anket five fold grading scale, in the data analysis, frequency(f),percent(%), aritchmetic average, among independent groups `t? test, one wayvariance analyse (ANOVA) and tukey HSD (Tukey?s Honestly SignificantDifference Test ) multiple comparison tests?counts are used.The results below are found in the study.1-The teachers? behaviours which originate from social skill inadequencyand which may cause disapproved student behaviours, that is; his teasing thestudents, comparing them between each other, behaving inconsistent when applyingclassroom rules,discriminating the students, behaving impolitely to the students,passing over the students? personel differences, generally controlling theundisiplined behaviours by punishment, his lacking and insufficient comminicationskills, his not getting ready for the lesson adequately, being not for the innovations,not caring for the students, having strickly rules and boundaries, not being energeticand lively, not knowing students adequately, not caring the students? wishes andforgetting his promises, not having self confidence.2-That the teacher behaviours originating from skill inadequacy ofteaching and causing disapproved student behaviours are the teacher?s beingunsuccessfull in explaining the lesson and classroom aims to the students, notknowing the lesson subject fully, beginning the lesson before providing disciplineand trying to continue the lesson in a undisciplined environment, not using thelesson time effectively, always using the same method, giving misunderstoodhomeworks, not organizing the phsyical environment suitable for the lesson, notbeing model of desired behaviours to the students, not controlling the givenhomeworks, lackage of teaching skills, not attracting the students? interests, notgetting the participation of the students, not making the repetition of misunderstoodsubjects, not having summarizing the subject by asking questions at the end of thelesson, giving hard reaction to the unrelated questions, not giving the misunderstoodparts a clear position with good examples, not asking each student the samequestions, not motivating the students to study, not saying the words that can makethe students happy, making the same compliment to each student.3- Meaningfull difference between the students?vievs related to the teacherbehaviours that may cause disapproved student behaviours in classroom ( = 3.26)and the teacher?s vievs is found. ( =3.96), (t=11.9, p<0.05). In other words, thatthe teachers?participating in the anket is superior to the students?vievs.4- No Meaningfull differences can be found related to the independentvariable of sex among the participants? views related to the teachers? behaviourswhich may cause the students? undesirable behaviours in the classroom.5- No Meaningfull differences can be found related to the independentvariables of ( priority, education statu, age) among the teachers? views related tothe teachers? behaviours which may cause the students? behaviours in theclassroom.Key words; Classroom management, Disapproved student behaviour,Classroom teacher.
