Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the rate of problems which were faced while receiving opinions of teachers about the peculiarities and the role of visual aids in the first-grade Turkish lesson schedule at primary schools, the visual aids in the in the first-grade Turkish lesson course books and schedule at primary schools, the suitability of the gains of visual reading and visual presentation to the pupils? levels, in the first- grade first reading & writing schedule in the voice-based sentence method, and while developing the gains of visual reading and visual presentation in the first-grade first reading & writing schedule in the voice-based sentence method at primary schools. The research population was constituted out of the first- grade teachers and teachers who had taught first-grade in the school year 2010-2011, in the province Muş. The exemplification of the research was applied on 310 first- grade teachers and teachers who had taught first-grade in the province Muş. A questionnaire was arranged in three units for reaching the aims determined for the research. These units are respectively: the suitability of the required data for reaching the determined purpose of the research for the pupils? levels, the rate of problems faced while gains were developed during the learning procedure, the influence of visual aids with the voice-based sentence method. The statistical analysis of research data was verified by using SPSS 16.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) on PCs. % and frequency, ?t ? tests and analysis of variance were utilized for data analysis.The teachers who participated to the research found the gains in the fields of visual reading and visual presentation learning proper to the pupils? levels in general. The teachers who participated to the research had also noted that, no general problems occurred in the fields of visual reading and visual presentation learning.The teachers who participated to the research revealed that, the visual aids used for the reading & writing courses had to be selected from visuals proper to the environmental conditions, that the visual aids in course books were selected from daily life. Finally it was concluded that, visual aids in reading & writing courses were remarkable, and caused an increase in the interest for the course.Female teachers had ( when compared with the opinions of male teachers) a general opinion that different and special visual aids were more impressive in reading & writing courses. Teachers who were just at the beginning of their career, stated that visual aids played an important role in teaching reading & writing. The fact that achievements gained in the fields of visual reading and visual presentation were suitable for the pupils? levels, was more appreciated by teachers of a lower rank than by teachers of higher ranks.Teachers who work in the city centre stated that they faced less problems in developing gains in visual reading and visual presentation when compared with teachers working in the county seats and villages.Keywords: Visual reading, Visual presentation, Visual aids, The influence of visual aids
