Investigation of the degree of agressive behavior according to the use of free time by second level elementary students

Prof. Dr. Sabahattin Çam April, 2004, Page 96 In this study, use of free time by second level elementary school students was investigated according to the degree of aggressive behavior and gender. The study group was composed of 346 students of the sixth, seventh and eighth grades in elementary schools found in the Seyhan District of Adana. During the research, the data was obtained by the utilization of a "Use of Free Time Questionnaire". Methods for detenmning frequency, percentage and chi-square were used in evaluation of the data. According to the findings of the research, students with a high degree of aggression frequently spent their free time in sports. Those with a low degree of aggression took part in artistic or creative activities. When the activities during use of passive free time were evaluated, it was found mat both those with high levels of aggression and those with low levels took part in entertaining and restful activities. When it comes to gender, girls usually took part in artistic and creative activities and boys, in sports. When the activities during passive free time were evaluated, it was found that both girls and boys took part in entertaining and restful activities.
