Searching for relations in the creativity and in the multiple intelligences of active chess players at middle & high school

The purpose of this search is to bring up differences between students who are educated in high school and playing chess creativity and multiple intelligence areas.The group of this search is composed participants of Turkish Youth Chess Championships students in 6.,7. and 8. class which was avaible Turkish Chess Federation?s activitiy programme of 2008-2009 and was held between the date Jan 23, - Feb 01, 2009. Including 292 males and 208 famale students they are 500 students.Firstly, the current information about the purpose of this study is learned systematically by searching the literature. In this way, a theorical limitation about the topic has been reached. Secondly, to realize the purpose of the study; ?How Creative Are You?? creativity scale that was developed by Raudsepp (1977) and was translated into Turkish by Çoban (1999) and also Multiple İntelligence Areas İnventory that was developed by Saban(2001) was used.In determining and comment the data, frequency, T test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and One Way Anova test was used and the meaningfulness is set at P< 0,05 by using the tukey test in order to determine the difference between groups. SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) packet programme was used for analizing the data and finding the calculated worth.As a result of this study; we can come to the conclusion that, according to variable of gender, playing chess schoolboys have a high logical-mathematical intellegence area and bodily-kinestetic intellegence area.According to class variable; student in 6. who is playing chess have a higher linguistic intellegence, logical-mathmetical intellegence, intrapersonal intellegence, musical intellegence, spatial intellegence than students in 8. class.At the same time according to variable of gender, class and father and mother; women students and schoolboys who are playing chess have high creativity level.When we analyse the relationship between creativity and multiple intellegence area of students who are chess player we can see a positive expressive between creativity level and linguistic intellegence, logical-mathematical intellegence, spatial intellegence, bodily-kinesthetic intellegence, musical intellegence, interpersonal intellegence, intrapersonal intellegence and naturalist intellegence.
