The effect of dramatization technic in science of Life Lesson of primary shool third graders in terms of their social-emotional adjustment and academic success

This research has been conducted in order to find empirical evidence whether usage of dramatization technic in Science of Life Lesson affects social-emotional adjustment and academic success of the third grade students.The research is an experimental study and is designed in the frame of pretest-posttest control grupped model. The research was applied on 50 primary school third grade students in 2008-2009 educational term in Çamlıca Primary School and Rahmanlar Primary School in Manisa?s Selendi Town. Çamlıca Primary School students have been considered as the experimental group and the students of Rahmanlar Primary School have been considered as the control group. It is determined that there is no meaningful difference between the pre-requisite learning?s of the students in those two groups and all of the students come from the same social environment and similar socio-economic conditions.Personal Information Poll, Social Emotional Adaptation Scale and Success Tests have been applied for gathering the data for the study. Personal information poll has been used in order to equalize the groups. Social Emotional Adaptation Scale and Success Test have been applied to both the experimental group and the control group as pre-test and post-test.The application of Science of Life Lesson has lasted nearly for three and a half months in the frame of acquisitions mentioned in the second theme. Social-Emotional Adaptation Scale and the Success Test have been applied to the groups as the pretests. After that the lessons have been conducted with the dramatization method with the experimental group, which had a total of 25 students, and classical teaching methods have been applied to the control group. At the end of the application phase, Social-Emotional Adjustment Scale and Success Test have been applied to the students as posttest.The data gathered in the frame of the research has been processed via ?SPSS Package Software?. The success test results have been processed with two way ANOVA and Tuqey tests. The data gathered with Social Emotional Adjustment Scale was processed with application of ?t-test?.The study revealed that application of dramatization technic in the Science of Life lesson have proved to be effective in the social emotional and academic success of the primary school third graders.
