Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, i) The integrations conducted between achievements in science and technology and mathematics curriculums in elementary 4-8 are suitable and enough or not, ii) The manifestation of teachers? thoughts about the integration of the achievements of science and technology and mathematics are aimed. In this work, in order to manifest that the integrations conducted between achievements in science and technology and mathematics curriculums in elementary 4-8 are enough or not, there are other achievements provided by integrations or not, and the teachers? thoughts about the integration between achievements, the surveys shown in Appendix 1 were improved. During the development of these surveys, 4-8 of science and technology curriculum and mathematics curriculum were separately investigated and the achievements thought to be provided the integrations between achievements in both curriculums were incorporated in the surveys. Afterwards, the final version of the surveys was obtained with the aid of expert opinion and pilot application. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used in this study. The given surveys in Appendix 1 were implemented to the fourth and fifth grade teachers and sixth-eighth grade science and technology and mathematics teachers working at elementary schools in a county of Manisa. Totally 56 teachers participating in this work responded to 86 surveys. Moreover, these surveys were implemented to one professor dr., one associate professors dr., three assistant professors dr. and two research assistants and the expert options were obtained. By calculating the frequencies and percentage of the responses of the teacher and expert at ?Yes/No? sections of the surveys in the appendix 1, it was evaluated that the integrations conducted between achievements of 4-8 science and technology and mathematics curriculums are suitable and enough or not. With the use of the given responses to ?Justification? chapter at the surveys in the appendix 1 by using content analysis method, teachers? options about the integration of the science and technology and mathematics achievements have been put forward carefully. As a consequence of the findings obtained from the surveys displayed in the appendix 1, it was found that the relations conducted between achievements in 4-8 of science and technology and mathematics curriculums are convincing; however, the other achievements except for the related achievements are able to integrate. Thereby, it was concluded that the integrations conducted in the elementary 4-8 of science and technology and mathematics curriculums are superficial. Additionally, it was proposed in this study performed that the integration is able to provide among which subjects in the science and technology and mathematics lectures and the thoughts of the teachers about the integration of the science and technology and mathematics curriculums.Key words: Mathematics Curriculum, Science and Technology Curriculum, Integrated Science and Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Science and Technology Education
