Examination of the 4th grade primary school Religious Culture and Ethics textbook in terms of educational pedagogy, on the axis of acquisltion, activity visuality, measurement and evaluation

With the developing and changing technology, we see that updates are made to course programs and books at certain intervals in the field of education and training, as in many other fields. In this study, we examined the 4th grade İDKAB course book, which the student encountered for the first time in the field of religious culture and moral knowledge in formal education, in the context of educational pedagogy. In the perspective of educational pedagogy, which focuses on the student and aims to maximize learning, we examined the achievements, activities, visuals and assessments in the course book by taking the curriculum, the basic law of national education and studies conducted in the field as criteria. Documentation and content analysis, which are qualitative research methods, were used in the research. When the achievements that determine learning needs and contribute to the field of learning in determining teaching principles and methods were examined; the density of abstract concepts that are not suitable for the student's development level, paragraphs that include long explanations above the development level, and points where the curriculum and the course book do not complement each other were determined. In the course book, which includes 43 activities, the repetition of activities supporting the same skill area is striking. Activities that will enable the student to be active in the course book are expected. With the influence of developing technology today, new generation students have higher expectations in terms of aesthetics and visuals. In this respect, attention has been drawn to the points in the textbook where visual revision is needed. In particular, the unit covers and deficiencies in printing quality are noteworthy. We hope that our study will contribute to studies on curriculum and textbooks.
