The effect of drama in the devceloping music skills of the 4th grade elementary school students

First we have to find out whether there is effect of drama developing the musical skiils of the 4 th grade elementary school students or not. This is the main aim of the research.Secondary aims are to evaluate the effecting degree of their drama and music skills, basic music knowledge, musical hearing, singing songs, showing a harmony with their body to music and a self confidence to their music ability and their manners towards music lesson.The research is in experimental style. The study environment is restricted with Şeker Mevhibe Primary School the 4 th grade students who are on the Middle Class socio-economical level. The sample group has 89 people of when are 45 people control group and experimenting group is 44 people.The datas on the sample group, were done on as two groups in February-March-April 2006. Music lesson was given in two ways; with drama method to experimenting group and with teaching music to students who never learned how to read notes and are method of traditional music teaching method. In this research pre-test and latest test with the group of control, experimenting pattern was used.As a result of statistical analysis; it?s understood that a Creative Drama Method is more effective than traditional music method at a meaningful level. It?s found that the experimenting group who studied with the prastices of drama education consisting game and physical movements has more efficient results than the group who studied with traditional approach.The results of this research have shown that ?Creative Drama Method? is more effective when comparing with ?Traditional Method? in many ways such as, learning basic music, skills of musical hearing, improvement of self-confidence about music talent, attitude of music lesson, skills of adaptation to music and skill of singing. Results were interepred under the light of literature, it has been advised that in educational institutions, creative drama method, dance, play, dramatization and physical movements should be taught to the teachers who teach music and they should be taken to courses and seminars; and to improve the students? rhytmic, physical movements, dramatization, the skiils of play and dance in the music education programmes.
