Abstract (EN)
In this study, determination of the empatic tendency levels of 5th class teachers working in public primary schools subordinated by Bagcilar Directorship of Ministry of Education in İstanbul as well as the relationship between these empatic tendencies and the academic success of the students is handled. The study tries to explain the relationship between the teachers? empatic skill levels, investigated according to individual factors like; sex, age, education level, marital status, location where primary school and high school education have been completed, graduated faculty, branch, working style, total working period, working period in the current school, and the annual averages of academic success scores that they gave to their students.Teachers working in 53 public primary schools subordinated by Bağcılar Directorship of Ministry of Education in Istanbul during 2008?2009 academic year compound the scope of this study in which literature and field surveys have been conducted.In the study simple random sampling method has been used. 5th class teachers working in public schools of Bagcilar district in province İstanbul compose the sample of the subject. In this context, it has been tried to reach the total set under survey and at the end 279 teachers from 53 different primary schools have joined the study. In order to determine the empathic tendency levels of teachers ?Empatic Skills Scale Form B? developed by Prof. Dr. Üstun Dökmen has been used. Additionally for evaluating students success, annual success average scores have been utilized. According to research results, trends empathic high level of the teachers, students of high academic achievement were found.Keywords: Class Management, Class Teacher, Empathic, Listening, Communication.
