Abstract (EN)

In this study, nine Stories Texts in Main Turkish Course Books for 6, 7 and 8. classess were scrutinized linguistic methods and techniques; and It was aimed to determine the effects of these texts on primary school students? comprehension level. Therefore, the study consists of six chapters, which support one another and continuation of each other. Firstly, methods of linguistics, semiotics and graphology and especially of text linguistics ,which are to be used in scrutinizing the stories are described in precise. In the fifth chapter of the study, the nine stories are scrutinized and the obtained data are presented in the light of these methods. The stories are studied on three levels; superficially, narrative, an in detail. While scrutinized, the texts are evaluated as a whole from concrete to abstract: writer subject?s frame of mind and life and other compositions are taken into consideration. In this regard, the study differs from studies on traditional literature. The data having been obtained after the studies are associated with gaining in the Turkish Teaching Programme and thereby, questionnaires, suitable for 6, 7 and 8. classes, have been prepared. The questionnaires were applied in six primary schools in province Malatya, which have different social-economic compositions from each other. In the six chapters, the data obtained after the questionnaires applied are commented on and the effects of the short stories, which are used in teaching mother language, on students? comprehension levels are tried to be determinedNarrative texts which are similar to stories are scrutinized in the study in the light of modern linguistics method and data. The study is of characteristics to constitute a certain frame for selecting stories to be used to teach mother language.Key words: Teaching Turkish, mother language, linguistics, text linguistics, semiologics, literature, narrative, primary school, new Turkish teaching programme.
