Abstract (EN)

11 ABSRACT This survey has been conducted in order to define the infleunce developed with active learning in the topic of 'point, plane, straight, space and ray' which is differently composed of classsical method on success of students in sixth class of Primary Education'. The main purpose is to determine the effect of 'Active Method' on the success of the student. To this end, at the very beginning of the survey, related literature survey has been done, and after having obtained the necessary information, a research project has been drafted. For the selection of the subject, abstract concepts have been effective. For the survey, according to the project the ' pre-test - final-test with different control groups' has been used. During the 2003-2004 academic year, with 29 students from Atatürk Elementary School and Ali Mumcu Elementary School a control group and with 36 student a research group was formed. The research group was instructed with active learning, whereas the control group was instructed with traditional methods. As a means for data collection, a test for the measurement of success has been prepared for the students related to the subjects treated which was applied two times to both groups before and after the research. The questions were multiple choice and were within the quality to contain the behaviour aimed to.Furthermore, the test was applied and was defined to be valid and liable. After that, the application was done. While evaluating the data, the difference between the two groups was tested with the help of the t-test. As a result of the reasearch, it was obvious that active learning is more successfull than the traditional method. Furthermore, it has been observed that students are more interested when the subject is instructed with active learning, and that for this reason there was a rise in their level of success.
