Abstract (EN)
The introductory course to social studies deals with people and their lives. It helps us to understand ourselves and others better. It is harder to define this course than to define a discipline such as geography and history, because social studies is an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary area. However, two distinctive features of social sciences are that it enables to entitle civic duties and that it is an iterdisciplinary area. In the Turkish educational system, students will acquire enumerated skills concerning civic duties and responsibilities, relationships between people in a society, the ability to be acquainted with the environment, the country and the world, and developing the idea and the abilities of an economical lifestyle through the education of social sciences. Books are one of the most important course materials used in the social studies education in the sixth grade. It increases the quality of education to have well-prepared evaluation questions in the books of social studies for the sixth grade. This Work?s aim about evaluation questions in the sixth grade lesson books view by the teacher?s opinion.First part of this work accent Social studies definition and historical development. Second part of this work to talk about the using method in the social science lesson. Generaly at the third part about questionnaire?s results.Our questionnaire was given to sixty five teachers selected in the different areas of the Kocaeli city center.The results of it have been checked with SPSS program.
