Views of teachers and inspectors about the curriculum of the 6th grade of social studies course

The main aim of this research is to survey the opinions and suggestions of the teachers of 6th grade on social studies, and the inspectors worked in primary education associations about the curriculum.Universe of this research includes teachers who lecture in social studies course of 6th grades which works in centre of Bolu, Mudurnu and Seben, both are towns of Bolu, and inspectors responsible for the region of Bolu in the academic year of 2006-2007. Sampling of research includes 25 teachers lectured in 23 different 6th grades of social studies of primary education schools in Bolu, Mudurnu and Seben who were selected with the method of systematic sampling and 17 concerning inspectors of Bolu in 2006-2007 academic year.Data are obtained by the way of a tool of collecting data(questionnaire). In these questionnaires which are oriented to teachers and inspectors, their personal information, views about the curriculum, difficulties on application of the curriculum, and suggestions of correction-improvement about the curriculum are discussed. In this process, it is aimed that whether or not views of teachers and inspectors change with respect to variables and it is also aimed that there is any meaningful differences between their views.SPSS 11.5 package program is used for evaluating the data obtained by questionnaire. In the analysis of findings, differences between views of teachers of social studies and inspectors about the curriculum are compared by using `T-test? with the value of 0.05 in signifance level. Tables belong to distributions of frequency(f) and percentage(%) are formed and interpretated.In the final part of this research, it can be arrived at a conclusion that teachers of social studies have generally more positive views than inspectors about the curriculum applied in primary education schools.
