The effects of cooperative learning based on constructivist approach on primary 7th grade students? environmental attitudes and achievements in the education of environmental issues in science and technology course

The study has been prepared for searching the effects of cooperative learning based on constructivist approach on primary 7th grade students? environmental attitudes and achievements in the education of environmental issues in science and technology course. The population of the study is the 7th grade students in Konya. The sample is the 7th grade students in Atatürk primary school which is located in Konya and is chosen randomly. The sample involves totally 112 students; an experimental group with 60 and a control group with 52 students.The data is collected by utilizing a pre-test post-test control grouped experimental design. While courses in experimental group has been performed with cooperative learning; courses in control group has been performed with traditional learning method. Mentally Thinking test, Human and Environment Unit Achievement Test which is developed by the researcher and Attitude and Behavior Test Towards Environment and Evaluating Process Scales are used as data collecting instruments. According to the results, the cooperative learning based on constructivist approach in the education of environmental issues in science and technology course has effected the student?s achievements and attitudes towards environment positively and gender has no effect.Key words: Constructivism, cooperative learning, environmental education, science teaching, attitude and behavior towards environment.
