The effect of computer assisted instruction to academic success and continuity for the course of social studies in primary school 7th class

The aim of this study is investigating effect of computer assisted instruction to the to the success of students and continuity of knowledge for the chapters ?The Ottoman Culture and Civilization? and ?Neighbors of our Country and Turkish World? of Social Studies course in Primary School 7th class.Working group was consisting of eighty students of Class 7A and 7B of 2006-2007 education-instruction years in Atatürk Primary Scholl from Pozantı district, Adana. It was confirmed that groups were similar with respect to reports and socioeconomic levels of selected students.The differences between courses teached by traditional methods and computer supported were determined with respect to academical success of students and having continuity on learning. By looking over studies about subject, computer supported instruction was determined enhancing success of students and providing continuity on learning.The study was configured as suitable to trial model because of intending to determine cause-result connection for the effect of lessons which were performed by computer supported instruction and traditional education methods to the success and recalling level of student in the course of Social Studies by the way of controlled observation.Data used in the study were gathered via ?pre and post test and recalling test? which was improved by researcher. Prepared test was applied to the students before and after the experiment. Obtained data were tested by t-test by using the SPSS at .01 levels.Key Words: Computer Assisted Instruction, Social Studies, Education and Instruction Technology
