Abstract (EN)
This studyc was carried out in order to determine the students of the 8th grade in primary school to understant level of conceptions and to detect their own misconceptions in Turkish Revolution History and Kemalism lesson.This research is a survey type descriptive study composed five parts. In the first part, problem, sub-problems, purpose of the study, its importance, hypothesis, limitations; in the second part, literatur review and related research with the subject in the third part; method of the research and in the fourth part the findings of research and comments about it take place. The conclusion and suggestions are explained in the last part.Working group of this research consists of 214 students of class 8th of 2008-2009 academic year in 6 primary schools from Gördes district, Manisa.Data were collected by two means. The first one was a percent information form to determine the students personal information. The other one was a questionnaire consisting of 40 multiple choice questions to measure students understanding level. SPSS 11.5 was used to analyze data. Fregueny (f), percentage (%) analysis, indepented sample t-test, Anova, Tukey HSD test, Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney-U test were used to analyze research data.Results show that class 8th primary school students do not understand and misconceptions do most of the concepts in Turkish Republic Revolution History and Kemalism lesson. Statistical analyses indicate discrepancies among sex, fathers education level, parents occupation salary of families and school differentiation significant.Key Words: Turkish Republic Revolution History and Kemalism, Concept, Concept learning, Misconceptions
