Analysis of semantics events in poems in Turkish course boks of 8th grades at elementary

This paper has focused of poem definition, elements of poem, poetry analysis methods, the place and importance of the poem texts into native language teaching, semantics, semantic events, the place and contribution of the semantics events in poem evaluations. The semantic events in the poems in Turkish course boks of 8th grades at elemantery education- including free reading texts and the listening texts in the teacher guide book- have been analyzed and the semantic events in these poems have been determined. Objective of the study is to analyze the semantic events in the poem texts in the Turkish course boks of 8th grades at elementary education, and the determine effect of these events on semantic of the poem, and to what extent are these semantic events used the poems.In this study, primarily definition of the poem, elements of the poem, the poetry analysis methods, the place and importance of the poem into the native language teaching have been explained. Later, semantics and semantic events have been highlighted. At past phase, the poems in Turkish course boks of 8th grades have been evaluated, the semantic events have been determined; sample activities related to the semantic events have been given and the semantic events asked in the placement test (SBS) have been shown. In conclusions and suggestions part, the results achieved as a result of the study and the suggestions related to the subject have been given.Key Words: Turkish teaching, poetry, semantics, meaning to events, Turkish textbooks
