The investigation of the relationship between parents' marital satisfaction and the 8th grade students' family assesment

The aim of the research is to investigate whether there is a significant relationship between the primary school 8 th grade students? parents?s marital satisfaction and the students? perception of family functions and to investigate whether there is a significant difference between the primary school 8 th grade students? perception of family functions according to some variables.The research made according to correlation survey model and the sample of the study consist 316 primary school 8th grade students of National Education Ministry in Torbalı, İzmir. The data has been collected by ` Family Assesment Device?, ` Marital Life Device?, `Personal İnformation Form? and analysed by using t test, Kruskall Wallis, one-way analysis of variance and Mann Whitney U techniques in SPSS packet programme.According to the findings of the study, it has been seen that there is a negative medium degree significant relationship between the parents? marital satisfaction and the primary school 8 th grade students? perception of family functions.There are significant differences between the primary school 8th grade students? gender and their perceptions of comuncation, affective involvement and behavior control functions; their family?s economical situations between problem solving and rolles functions; their mothers? educational levels between problem solving, affective involvement and behavior control but there are not any difference between their fathers? educational levels.It has been seen that there are more positive evoluations between the students living in İzmir with their families, about problem solving, communication,rolles, affective responsiveness and general functions; between the students living in nuclear families and students living in big families about communication, affective responsiveness, affective involvement functions.
