Abstract (EN)
The objective of this research is to examine the attitude of the secondary school sixth grade students to the mathematics and success of mathematics. Depending on the overall objective of the survey; the relationship between students' gender, type of school they studied and students' attitudes towards mathematics, mathematics achievement were investigated. The population of research is the sixth-grade students studying in primary schools in the province of Ankara.The sample is constituted from 508 secondary school students who study at six grades and one private school that are under control of the National Education Ministry at 2014-2015 Education Years' First Term. In this research, to reach the objective of the work, quantitative research methods were used. In this research, to collect data, these were applied: 'a personal information form' which is formed from demographic characteristic such as the type of school in which they studied, their sex, the average of Mathematics etc. and 'The Scale of attitude that was developed by Duatepe and Çilesiz (1999). In the research, the data were analyzed with descriptive analyze, the t-test, The Pearson-Moment Correlation Analyze. At the end of the research, it is found that the majority (65%) of the sixth grade students have for the Mathematics. It is observed that between the attitude to Mathematics and the sex, there is a statistically significant difference. It is understood that, the boys have a more positive attitude than the girls. It is observed that, depending on type of school and the attitude to Mathematics, there is no a statistically significant difference between state school and private school. Depending on the success of Mathematics, score of students and their sex, it is not emerged a statistically significant difference between boys and girls. It is understood that there is statistically significant difference between state and private school in terms of the success of Mathematics.
