The Effects of the multiple intelligences theory activities on the achievements of student's cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains at the physical education lesson

The purpose of this study is to research the effects of the physicaleducation and sport lessons, which practise multiple intelligences theory andtraditional method, to the student?s cognitive, affective and psychomotorevolutions., The data was collected from the sixth class students in a primaryschool. Experimental model was used in this study. Multiple intelligencestheory activities were used in experimental group and traditional method wasused in control group. The experimental group was constituted 11 girls and 22boys, the control group was constituted 18 girls and 15 boys. The average ageof experimental group was 11.96 + 0.46, control group was 12.03 0.52. At+gymnastics and volleyball units, achievement tests were used to measure forcognitive behaviors and observation forms were used to measure the motorperformance. Attitude scale was used to measure the student? attitude relativeviwith physical education and sport. These enstruments were given to allstudents at the beginnig of the gymnastics unit (pre test) and at the end of thegymnastics and volleyball units (post test). SPSS for Windows programmewas used for data analyse. The statistical analyses of the study includeddescriptive statistics, Independent Samples t test and Paired Samples t test.When the cognitive, affective and psychomotor scores of experimental andcontrol group were compared, the results of the study showed that, at cognitiveand affective domain there was a significant difference in favour ofexperimental group (p<0.05). At psychomotor domain, for each units(gymnastics and volleyball), there was a significant difference in favour ofcontrol group (p<0.05).Key Words: Multiple Intelligences Theory, Traditional Method, CognitiveDomain, Affective Domain, Psychomotor Domain.
