Abstract (EN)
In 21th century, societies and cultures have entered a new structuring process on the base of a rapid change and transformation. This restructuring process have not only affected the organizations and managements but also the inspection system that is one of subsystems of management. Inspection has kept away from the belief of old, classical and sense of controlling and has taken the form of guidance and inwork help in the sense of learning organizations. However, this situation is not adequate in the new belief shape of changing human sources management. Because of this reason, inspectors ought to own some specific skills of coaching in order to organize the inspection process in the right way.The aim of this study is to determine the levels of coaching skills performance of the inspectors who inspect in primary schools. In the study, the effects of gender, seniority, branch and working places variables on the coaching skills performance of the inspectors have been analysed. Coaching skills has been handled in three dimension; leadership, communication and guidance.In the study which has been carried through the survey method, the universe has been decided as the 437 teachers who work in the state primary schools of Çanakkale district during 2010-2011 academic year.In the conclusion of the study, the inspectors have been determined as inadequate in terms of their applications based on coaching skills. It has been conluded that female teachers think that inspectors fullfill their applications based on coaching on the low level; teachers in the field of Science and Maths differ from the other groups significantly especially for the leadeship behaviours based on coaching and their opinions for this item has been foud in low mean. For the variable of workpalce, teachers who work in villages have expressed more positive opinions than the other groups.Basing on the findings and the results of the study, it has been suggested that inspectors should be trained on coaching skills; inspectors should be chosen or trained in accordance with their branches; legal and educational regulations should be implemented for inspectors to display competence and specialist behaviours.Key Words: Coach, inspection based on coaching, leadership, communication, guidance
