The evaluation of the student's books, workbooks and the teacher's books of svience and technology lesson in primary schools according to five mind models

Primary purpose of this study is to examine the activities in the 6th Grade Science and Technology Course Student Course Book, Workbook and Teachers' Guide Books according to the mind types of Five Mind Model. Used Being one of Qualitative research methods, "Descriptive Analysis" for this study, conduct with the secondary school 6 classes student and work Books and teachers' guide book in the academic year 2011-2012.In this study three books; 6th grade Student Coursebook, Student Workbook and Teachers Guide Book which have been made by the Ministry of Education, Board of Education in order to be used in the curriculum of new Science and Technology course have been examined. The Criteria which will represent Five Minds Model and sub-dimensions (discipline, synthesis, creativity, respect and ethical minds) and guidelines to provide the determination of these criteria have been determined. With the scale, of the relevant books and 285 activities from the relevant books have been examined one by one according to the mind types by taking the target feature of the activity into consideration. The data were analyzed by calculating the percentages and frequency values over activity number.After all those investigations of the relevant books, it has been determined that there are not activities to develop all mind types in each unit; while there is a high proportion of activities to develop a certain mind type, some certain mind types are either neglected or totally omitted in some books.Key Words: Five Mind Model, Curriculum of Science and Technology Course
