The influence of sport education model on middle school students during extracurricular football studies on cognitive- psychomotor and game performance levels

The purpose of this study was to find out the influence of Sport Education Model (SEM) on cognitive, psychomotor and game performance levels of students during 16 week extrarurricular football education (pratice). Second grade students from Çankırı province participated in this study. In this study, experimental model with pre-test post-test model was used. Randomly selected students were organized as control group and experiment group (24 students at each group). SEM was applied to experiment group and Traditional Teaching Approach (TTA) was applied to control group. Both experiment and control group consist of 24 male students with a total of 48. To measure cognitive learning level of students success test was used which prepared by researcher, in order to measure psychomotor learning level Mor-Christian Football General Test and to measure game performance Game Performance Assessment Scale (GPAS) were used. In order to analyze data, SPSS 15.0 package was used. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test with dependent and independent groups, Kolmogorov Smirnov and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks tests were used. As a result of this study, there was no significant difference between control and experiment group on the basis of sport education model in cognitive learning levels (p>0.05). In psychomotor area, there is significant difference between control and experiment group on shoting and passing skills (p<0,01). Also there was a significant difference between control group and experiment group in terms of game performance. There was a significant difference in achievements between skill performance support and game performance components which were the components of game performance.
