Abstract (EN)

Reading is a mental and intellectual activity which based upon the recognition and comprehension of a writing of letters, words, marks and their meanings. This activity is take on a very important role in the individual and society life and it?s the principle tool of learning. The very important part of knowledge is acquired by reading which beyond the life. The aim of this research is to determine the effects of reading strategies on student?s reading comprehension rates whith expository texts. The participants of research are 8th class students who are educated in the primary scools second level of Ankara center. This research is applied on two groups which are consisted 24 students. Tthere isn?t a meaningful relation in the between groups. Altındağ Nihat Basakar Primary School students (8/B) is experimental gruop, and Etimesgut Nasreddin Hoca Primary School students (8/A) is control group in this research. In this research is applied the lesson plans which are prepared according to reading strategies with experimental group during 7 weeks. The traditional method is applied whith control group. This datas are determined in the conclusion of research: The average point of experimental group is 25, 83 before experiment, and the average point of experimental group is 38, 25 after experiment. The average points of experimental group is indicating a meaningful relation from before experiment to after experiment who are educated whith according to reading strategies [F(1-47)= 21.309; p<.05].
