Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to investigate the trust levels of teachers working in the primary schools in the context of organizational gossip. The research universe consists of 941 women and 1213 men, 2141 teachers working in the central district of Adıyaman in 2018-2019 academic year. 530 teachers selected from this universe by the stratified sampling method constitute the sample of the study. The relational screening model was used in the research and the data were collected through the "Organizational Trust Scale in Schools" developed by Daboval vd. (1994), adapted to schools by Ercan (2005) and "Organizational Gossip Scale" developed by Han and Dağlı (2018). SPSS 23 package was used for data analysis. Since the assumptions of normality could not be met in the analysis of the data, non-parametric tests were used. In this study, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests were conducted for the determination and direction of changes in organizational gossip scale and organizational trust scale in terms of gender, marital status, year of service and branch variables. In addition, a correlation analysis was conducted for the relationship between organizational gossip levels and organizational trust levels. According to the results of the research, the organizational trust levels of the teachers were mostly "I agree" range while the organizational gossip levels were in the "dissagree" and "I agree at the intermediate level". While organizational trust levels by gender were in favor of male teachers in all sub-dimensions and in total, organizational gossip levels were in favor of men only in the awareness sub-dimension. According to the marital status, both organizational trust levels and organizational gossip levels of teachers did not differ significantly. While there was no significant difference in organizational trust levels of teachers according to service year, significant differences were found in awareness sub-dimension of organizational gossip levels. According to the results of the correlation analysis, while the awareness sub-dimension of organizational gossip was in an opposite and moderate relationship with all sub-dimensions and total of organizational trust; The sub-dimension of organizational gossip developing relationships is in a opposite and low level relationship with all sub-dimensions and total of organiational trust. It was concluded that the organizational loss sub-dimension of organizational gossip is not related to all sub-dimensions and total of organizational trust. In addition, teachers' level of participation in the opinions that the gossip will have harmful consequuences in the analyzes conducted, it was higher than the level of participation in the opinions about the gossip being seen as a means of getting news and development relations. As a result, it can be said that organizational gossip level decreases when teachers' organizational trust levels increase in this context, It is possible to say that increasing the level of trust in schools based on the correlation relationship will prevent gossip from being seen as a means of getting news and developing relations and will contribute to meeting these needs in more legal channels and environments. Key Words: Gossip Trust, Organizational Gossip, Organizational Trust.
