Determination of efficiency of consumer education with different methods for elementary students

It is aimed to determine the effect of consumer education with different methods for 6th grade students on proper consuming knowledge and habits in this study. The scope of the study is 6th grade students of elementary and the sample of the study is composed students of 6-B and 6-E classes of Halim Şaşmaz Elementary, in Altindag town, Ankara. Under the scope of the study the ?knowledge and attitude questionnaire? was utilized that is used to ascertain the knowledge levels of students. The same questionnaire was applied to the sample during and after the educations in order to determine the effect and the permanence of the educations. As a result of the study; the following conclusions were made; ? In the preliminary test it was observed that the average score of multiple intelligence group was high (p<0.05), ? In the final tests, average scores of both groups increased, ? The difference in the increase between preliminary and final tests was higher for the multiple intelligence group , ? Average scores of both groups increased in the follow-up tests, however, the difference between scores of the groups was statistically significant. ? It was concluded that more positive improvements had been obtained in the behaviors of multiple intelligence groups, and also their attitudes towards the course had been more positive. The following suggestions could be made during the study: ? The education should be enriched by utilizing educative methods (story telling, demonstration, dramas, presentations, posters etc.) ? The education should be often repeated to realize permanent behavioral changes in students, and model behaviors in practice should be implemented. ? It should be attached special importance to that standard education in schools brings in awareness for consuming habits.
