Abstract (EN)
This study is aimed to determine the effects of cognitive and learning styles of 7th grade students on their scores which was taken from the tests with different techniques.Research was applied to 294 seventh grade students at two schools of Gebze during 2009-2010 Education year. The group embedded figures test was used to determine cognitive styles of the students which was developed by Witkin, Oltman, Raskin and Karp (1971), Learning Styles Inventory was used to determine learning styles of students which was developed by Kolb (1985). In addition multiple choice test, written exam and short answer test was applied to the students which were consist of the ?Structure of the Atom? theme in Science and Technology Course.Data collected was analyzed in a Package Statistic Programmes. The data was resolved by Two Factor MANOVA, Two way ANOVA for Mixed Measures and Pearson Moments Correlation Coefficient in addition to descriptive statistics.As a result of this study, students who have different cognitive styles took significantly different scores which was taken from different types of measuring instruments. Field-Independent Students took higher scores than field-dependent students from three different testing formats. There is significantly difference between the means of scores which was achieved from different types of testing formats by students who have different learning styles. There is no significant difference among the scores of students according to gender. Finally, it was founded that while students approaching to Field-Independent Group, scores taken from three testing formats rising too.Key Words :Cognitive styles, learning style, measurement, evaluation.
