Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to identify the acquire status of the habit of reading of primary school students, in the view of parents, teachers and primary school students. In this study which is the descriptive method was conducted on the data collected with views of themselves, their parents and teachers of the research group for determine the status of reading habits of primary 2., 3., 4. and 5. grade students and the studies which is related with the acquire of the reading habits to these students. Research group consisted of students who are attending in primary schools (which are from city center of Bolu 10, from district of Bolu-Gerede 1., from Mudurnu 2, from Yeniçağa 1) 2., 3., 4. and 5. grade, teachers who are working in these classes and parents of these students in 2010- 2011 academic year. In this study, data were collected from a total of 470 persons who are 110 teachers, 252 students and 108 parents. In this study, Student Reading Habits Survey, Reading Habits Survey Teacher, Parent Reading Habits Survey which prepared by researcher was used for collecting the data. Survey forms applied by researcher to the teacher who are working in Bolu Provincial Directorate of National Education for primary schools 2., 3., 4. and 5. grade, students of these teachers and parents of these students in 2010-2011 academic year. The data of the study have been obtained by way of questionnaires. In the analysis of the data, frequency and percentage values are used. The findings of this research can be summarized as follows: Parents', teachers' and students' opinions on the definition of reading habits are consistent with the literature. Parents of 2/3, teachers of 3/4, almost all the students have reading habits. However; even though almost all of the students in the view that the habit of reading in them, parents of 2/3 and teachers stated that generally more than half of the students in class have reading habits. The majority of parents have been introduced their children with the act of reading or reading equipments. Nearly half of parents are being models to their children when they are with their children by reading books, magazines, newspapers, internet and so on reading publication. Nearly half of parents are of the opinion that children doing fondly books, magazines, etc. reading activities. Teachers see that reading time applications while providing the habit of reading is as important. Teachers of 1/3 do not have any studies for children in schools for arousing interest and curiosity. Teacher of the 1/4 reward their students by organizing some contests like good conversation, error-free reading, read a number of books and etc. Very few of the parents and teachers lead to students to the library. Very few of the parents and teachers are subscribers to publications for students. Parents to home libraries, teachers to class library usually take broadcasts when wants and needs. The sort of the publications in home and classroom libraries and the themes of publications don't satisfy the wants and needs of all of the students. Teachers usually co-operate with parents for acquire the habit of reading to students by making recommendations (to buy broadcast, encouraged to read, read setting environment, determination of hours of reading and so on.). The majority of students are making regular reading for being knowledgeable, to develop themselves and to increase reading speed. Students about 3/4 's read by pleasures from printed publications (newspapers, books, magazines, etc.). Students usually pay attention to the name of the book and its contents when they choose broadcast. Each student read fondly at different times and places. Parents reported cases about their children, the reason for not winning, generally lack of desire, demand and love of reading, not enjoy and tired of reading . Teachers stated that to their students, while providing the habit of reading especially the students encounter problems arising from themselves (apathy and reluctance against reading, want to another book before finishing the hands or bored quickly, distractibility, have trouble reading or understanding, presence of health problems, lack of clutter and disorganization, academic levels are low, fast read request, etc.). Causes that negatively affect the habit of reading as almost half of the students stated that they can not find interesting topic in books, magazines and so on, 1/3 of students stated that they like watching Tv. more and they prefer playing computer or internet games to reading.
