Abstract (EN)

In this research; it was intended to put forward the relation between democratic manners of elemantary school principals and commitments of teachers to the institution. The universe of the research were teachers, working during 2011-2012 school year at the schools, which are connected to Ministery of Education, in Sancaktepe-Çekmeköy districts. And the sample of the research was, 315 teachers chosen from 13 different schools and different socio-economic regions.During research, "democratic manner scale" developed by Bakır (2007) and "organizational commitment" scale developed by Balay (2000) were used. Otherwise, demographic qualities of teachers were determined by personal information forms. In the analysis of datas, by using SPSS 15.0 package programme, frequence and percentage values of demographic qualities were examined, arithmetic means and standard deviations were calculated; in variation tests, t test, variance analysis, Kruskal Wallis-H test were performed. In the relational analysis, Pearson Corelation Analysis was performed. In the end of the research; it was put forward that the principals should communicate with female teachers effectively and include them to management process because male teachers think more when compared to females that principals behave in democratic manner. It was exhibited after analyzes that the sensed democratic manners of elementary school principles do not differ significantly according to the varities of teachers (level of education, branch, faculty which they graduated). But it is observed that the sensed democratic manners of elementary school principles differs significantly according to the variants of teachers' seniority. It was observed after analysis that it is significant in favor of the 11-15 years seniority group, between 1-5 year/s seniority group and 11-15 years seniority group. So, teachers having 11-15 years seniority group thinks that, principles behaves in more democratic manner, compared to 6-10 years seniority group. It was seen that, the average points on principles' behaviors in democratic manner are lower when 16-20 and 21 years-above seniority groups were examined. It was seen that teachers' senses of organizational commitment does not differ significantly according to gender variant. It was seen that teachers' organizational commitments differ significantly according to seniority variant so; it was seen that, organizational commitments differ as difference between seniority years increases. It was seen that the organizational commitments differ significantly according to the types of faculties of which they graduated. It was seen that, the significant differences are in favor of the other faculty graduates, when comparision made between just faculty of education and other faculties (faculty of agriculture etc.). It was seen that, the organizational commitments of elemantary school teachers differ significantly according to branch variant and this significant differences between form teachers and branch teachers are in favor of the form teachers. It was seen that the organizational commitments is high level in form teachers and preschool teachers. As a result, it was seen that there is a positive significant relation between the senses of organizational commitments of teachers serving in the elementary education and their senses about principles' democratic manners. And again it was seen that there is a positive significant relation between the sub-dimensions of their adaptive commitment, internalizational commitment, identificational commitment and their senses about principles' democratic manners. So, their organizational commitments increases and they show adaptive, internalizational and identificational commitment in higher level as their sense of democratic manner in their principles increases. Keywords: Democratic Managment, Manner, Teacher, Organizational Commitment, Elementary School, Principal.
