İlköğretim okul müdürlerinin öğretimsel liderlik davranışları üzerine kalitatif bir araştırma (Erbil örneği)

The aim of this study was to investigate the behaviors of educational leadership in Erbil city, Iraq, with a qualitative approach. The present research is applied in terms of purpose, which was done qualitatively and phenomenologically. The statistical population of the research includes professors of educational management and principals of primary schools in Erbil. Theoretical saturation was used to determine the required sample. Accordingly, the number of participants in the study was 20 people who were selected by purposive theoretical sampling. Semi-structured interviews were used as a means of gathering the required information. Qualitative theme analysis method was used to analyze the data obtained from the interviews. A total of 32 initial codes were generated from 10 interviews. Then, the initial classification of the data was performed and the concepts of open coding were divided into 9 categories. Based on the results of the interviews, several categories have been identified for a successful educational leader. These categories are divided into three main subcategories: "goal setting", "creating a positive atmosphere in school" and "educational monitoring and evaluation". Also, the category of strengthening educational leadership is classified into 3 main subcategories: "individual characteristics", "community and school participation", and "organizational support". Finally, the category of educational leadership barriers is classified into three main subcategories: "organizational barriers", "motivational barriers", and "environmental barriers".
