Determination of the secondary school students' attitudes wi̇th the course of physical education and sports(Duzce sample)

The objective of this research (study) is ; to determine the attitudes of the secondary school students' studying at primary education schools which are in the province of Düzce towards physical education and sports lessons. While the total field under survey consists of the secondary school students' studying at primary education schools which are in the province of Düzce, the sample group are composed of total 394 volunteer students consisting of 204 boys and 190 girls who are selected randomly among 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students studying at ten primary education schools. The questionnaire is used as data collection tool. In the first part of the survey demographic characteristics, in the second part of survey physical education and sport attitude scale take place which is revised by Demirhan and Altay (2001). Statistical software SPSS (20 ) is used in the evaluation of the data obtained and, the level of significance is considered as (p < 0.05). Frequency analysis is applied to determine the demographic characteristic and persantage of the distributions for the responses of participants, in independent groups t-test is applied to comparisons of the genders and attitudes towards physical education classes, one-way analysis of variance is applied to make comparisons for the attitudes of the course of physical education according to varriables such as living place, class, age etc, and Scheffer and Games-Howell test is applied to determine the differences stemmed from which group (P < 0.05). When the attitudes of secondary school students studying at primary education schools were examined in view of the grades at which the students study and their parents' (families') monthly income, a significant difference was observed according to results of one way analysis of variance. While analysing the attitudes of students T- test results showed us a significant difference depending on whether the students' parents allow them to play (do) sports and the results of T-test in their answers to the question "Is there anyone playing (doing) sports in your family?"
