The problems confronted by teachers and school principals related to the application of educational programmes formed according to constructivist approach in primary schools

This study aims to determine the opinions of teachers and school principals working at primary schools in Şahitkamil and Şahinbey Provinces, in Gaziantep about educational programmes formed according to constructivist approach in primary schools. For this aim two questionnaires were developed by the researcher according to 5 point likert scale both for teachers and for school principals working at primary schools. The questionnaires include 61 items for the teachers and 20 items for the principals. These questionnaires were applied to 319 teachers and 67 principals working at primary schools in Şahitkamil and Şahinbey Provinces, in Gaziantep. The model applied in the study is Descriptive Method. Data were analyzed through techniques such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis Test and LSD multiple comparison Test. As a result of statistical analysis, statistically significant relationships were found between the tenure of teachers and the dimension of general view to the curriculum and also between the number of in-service training the teachers had about the curriculum and the dimension of content and general view to the curriculum. However the opinions of school principals were compared with tenure of school principals in the field of education, and the lenght of service as principals, their master?s degree, their graduation and the number of in-service training the principals had about the curriculum and no statistically significant relationships were found. Data were analyzed within the context of literature and some suggestions were drawn according to the data.Keywords: constructivism, teachers, school managers, problems
