Examining the views given by the principals and teachers about the technological leadership level of the principals working at elementary schools

In this study, we aim at examining the technological leadership of the school principals in the light of the views given by the primary school and branch teachers working at elemantary schools. The question of this search aims at finding out the technological leadership level of the principals according to the views given by the primary school principals and teachers. In this study, quantiative research methods have been used. In terms of quantiative method, 'The scale of technological leadership roles of the principals working at Elemantary Schools' developed by Sincar in 2009, has been used. The population of this study consists of the school principals working at the state schools in the education year 2010-2011 and the teachers working at those schools, too. İn order to determine the size of the sample, it is benefitted from the theoretical sample size table for different sized population. İn the table, minimum size of the sample is decided to consist of 375 people. Totally 550 people for sample, 119 of whom are school principal and the other 431 are the teachers. In this study, the questionnaire performed to the teachers and principals consists of two parts. In the first part at the questionnaire, the personal information (gender, branch, seniority, type of school, educational backgraund) is present. In the second part of the questionnaire, a scale with 29 points in order to get the views of the teachers and principals about the technological leadership level. In the search, elemantary school principals declare that their own technological leadership level is higher as compared with the views of the teachers. Moreover, there is no difference between the teachers and the principals about the article in the survey that says "He gets help from the internet to communicate with the all enrolees of school" and "He gets help from the internet to communicate and collabrate with the parents" and all participants generally think that the principals are incapable on those issues. Technological leadership level is not up to the mark because of the policy that the national education ministry follows and because the principals are not given an opportunity to improve themselves about technological leadership. To provide the principals with a high qualified leadership, it is quite important to constitute an atmoshphere in which they can improve their personal ability in informatics technology, see the share of the real life experiences and all the enrollees can communicate with each other very easily.
