A survey of teachers' opinion about motivation tools and satisfaction levels

This survey is a field survey of teacher?s opinion about motivation tools and satisfaction levels. Theachers? opinions about the motivation tools and their satisfaction levels are tried to be determined according to different variables. It is thought that the work, consisting of four sections, can be useful to motivate teacchers for work and to make evaluations more realistically by school managers. Likert type survey with five choises has been done with a total of 216 teachers in eight primary schools in Silivri. To analize the acquired data, Mann Whitney-U test, Kruskal Wallis-H test, T-test withartihmatic average and standard deviation, F test, and Tukey test and correlation test are used. The motivation tools, which are classified under three fundamental titles, show that teachers at most care about motivation tools. Organizational and managerial motivational tools are given more importance than psyco-social ones. Another finding is that the thoughts about motivation tools show difference by respect to theacher?s genders. Female teachers have more positive opinions than the male teachers about motivation tools. However, the teachers, who have graduated from two-year collages, have a higher level of satisfaction from the usage of motivation tools than the four-year collage graduates. Besides this, it is found that home-owner teachers have more satisfaction than those teachers not having one from the usage of the motivation tools. If we are to classify the satisfaction levels from the usage of the motivation tools, it can be said that the most-satisfactory motivation tools are psycho-social ones, followed by the organizational and managerial tools with a value close to the general average, and the least satisfactory motivation tools are economic ones.Keywords: Motivation, Motivation Tools, Satisfaction Scale, Regarding Scale, Teacher.
