11 EXAMINATION OF THE REFLECTION OF AMATEUR MUSICAL EDUCATION GIVEN AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ON MUSICAL BEHAVIORS OF THE STUDENTS BY DETERMİNİNG THE IDEAS OF THE STUDENTS AND THEİR PARENTS (Master Thesis) ELVAN ERGÜN GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF EDUCATIONAL SCDXNCES Ankara 2003 ABSTRACT This research was prepared for the purpose of determining how the amateur music education given at elemantary schools and supporting the general musical education reflects on the musical behaviors of the students by determining the ideas of the students and their parents regarding the reflection of the amateur music education at elemantary schools on the musical behaviors of the students, and presenting offers in this direction. This research is a descriptive research and the data, prepared by using"searching source" and "applying questionnaire" methods, which are obtained by questionnaires, were turned into frequency and percentage tables. The students who attended to amateur music education courses and studies at the elemantary schools in Ankara and their guardians constitute the scope of the research. At the end of the research, it was concluded that the amateur music education given at elemantary schools were largely useful for the educations of the students for musical interaction as well as their education for earning musical character, musical information, listening and musical hearing-reading-writaig educations, and the suggestions like that it is necessary to motivate and guide the students for a more effective amateur music education were developed.
