Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of effectiveness of primaryschools in the center county of Düzce region in terms of ?administrator?, ?teacher?,?student?, ?school curriculum and education and instruction process?, ?schoolculture and atmosphere?, and ?school environment and parent? through thereflections of teachers and administrators, and whether the school effectivenessdiffers through some characteristics of the participants.The population of the study is the school administrators and teachers in thecentre county of Düzce?s primary schools in the education year of 2004-2005. Thereare 26 primary schools, 48 school administrators, and 589 teachers working in thecenter county of Düzce. As the study is made on population, it is not required toselect sample.The results of the study are the following:1. According to the administrators and teachers, the primary schools ofDüzce are most effective in administrator dimension, and least effectivein student and school environment and parent dimension.2. There is significant difference between the reflections of administratorsand teachers in terms of the dimensions of characteristics of effectiveschool.3. There is significant difference in the reflections of administratorsthrough the gender of them in terms of the dimension of teacher.4. There is no significant difference in the reflections of administratorsthrough their experience and educational status in terms of the level ofDüzce?s primary schools in having the characteristics of effectiveschool.5. There is significant difference in the reflections of teachers throughtheir genders in terms of the level of primary schools in having thecharacteristics of effective school.6. There is significant difference in the reflections of teachers throughtheir experiences in terms of the level of primary schools in having thecharacteristics of effective school in the teacher, school culture andatmosphere, and school environment and parent dimensions.7. There is significant difference in the reflections of teachers throughtheir educational status in terms of the level of primary schools inhaving the characteristics of effective school in the teacher, student,school curriculum and education and instruction process, school cultureand atmosphere, and school environment and parent dimensions.8. There is significant difference in the reflections of teachers throughtheir branches in terms of the level of primary schools in having thecharacteristics of effective school in the student, school curriculum andeducation and instruction process, and school environment and parentdimensions.Keywords: Effectiveness, Effective school, Primary school.
