Determination of information levels of parents of students in the first level of primary school related to school and their children

By this research, it has been aimed to present what a parent,with a student in the first level of primary school, knows and from which sources s/he obtains this information. The research has been done in survey model and parents of students in the first grade of primary school existing in the central districts of Adana city have constituted the universe of the research.Package software SPSS WIN 17.0 has been used for the statistical accounts in data analysis. The responds of parents to each question having been scrutinized, frequency and percentage ranges have been accounted, t-test has been conducted in order to determine whether there is a meaningful difference from the point of gender variable. Whereas an one-way variance analysis (Anova) has been done in order to determine whether or not there is a meaningful difference in economical status variable, the determination of whether there is a meaningful difference or not according to educational status has been done by Kruskall Wallis Test. In the interpretation of the results .05 meaningfulness level has been considered.According to the findings acquired as a result of the research,a vast majority of parents have the sufficient information about school and their children. While a meaningful difference among the information levels of parents according to genders of them does not draw attention, there are differences from the point of socio-economic and educational status variables. Parents mostly have information about the school from teachers, parents? meeting and their children.
